Example: I had four tables set up outside for a shower. Using four pothos plants borrowed from the house interior, I wrapped them in pink florist's foil, tied a white ribbon around the pot, and inserted long stemmed roses purchased from a discount warehouse store (a buying club) that had been inserted into small green water picks (see picture) available for from ten cents to a quarter each at your local florists.
In this manner, I was able to stretch a bouquet of two dozen roses, which would have only made one or two centerpieces by themselves, and extend that bouquet to make a lovely and substantial centerpiece for four tables. Also, the arrangement of this item doesn't require any special talent as a floral designer, just make sure you space them evenly.
In this case, for about $25, I was able to set elegant tables for a party of forty people. Tip: don't put them outside too early on a hot day. Carry them out just before your guests arrive; they may wilt. Keep the green water picks for next time.
Cut the bottom off a healthy pineapple, just enough to make it stand straight and flat.
Make kebobs of other fruits- melons, mangoes, more pineapple and insert them. Put on a flat round Pyrex dish (microwave turn tables are wonderful for this, and they are pre) and surround with various types of grapes.
